ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE VIDYALAYA

            Government of India started Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas in accordance with New Education Policy 1986 in order to provide good quality modern education including a strong component of culture, inculcaltion of values, awareness of the environment, adventure activities, physical education and to promote national integration through migration policy. Our Vidyalaya as a part of the system has been striving towards excellence by way of various achievements not only in scholastic but in non-scholastic areas also.

LIBRARY:

            Our library is enriched with different types of books, magazines and newspapers.  It contains many valuable reference books like Encyclopaedia Britanica ( 32 Volumes ), World of Science (22 Volumes), Encyclopaedia of Games and Sports etc, Story books and subject reference books of all school subjects.  There are appx. more than 5000 books are available in the library.  In addition to this all the text books are also provided to all our students from the library in free of cost.

COMPUTER: 

            Introduction of computer in the Vidyalaya is one of the updated addition in terms of modern education. The teachers have gained computer knowledge through Intel Master Training Programme and V.Sat training under the programme "Project Siksha" and have been utilising computer as teaching aid successfully.

            Apart from V.Sat connectivity, addition of more new computers alongwith smart class this year is just like a new feather to the proud cap of the vidyalaya. It seems , the vast macrocosm has been squeezed in to a microcosm inside our computer lab.These facilities are also shared with the neighbouring schools and common people as a pace setting activity.

N.C.C.

            N.C.C. Junior wing was started on 26th Nov1998 under the active guidance of the N.C.C. officer Mr. P. R. Pili. The NCC cadets inclined with the motto "Unity and Discipline" actively participate in various social service activities such as Padayatra, Pulse-Polio and cleaniness of campus etc. Apart from this, they also attended Annual Training Camp and National Integration Camp . This year 25 cadets became successful in getting "A" certificate.

SCOUT & GUIDE:

            The Vidyalaya has also one Scout and Guide unit comprising of 32 boys and 32 girls volunteering in different social activities. Moreover two students such as Pranati Meher of Class-XI and Sidhartha Patnaik of Class-x have attended National Adventure Training Programme from 1st to 10th Oct 2004 conducted by National Adventure Institute, Pachmari (M.P.)

POPULATION EDUCATION PROGRAMME:

            Population Education Programme has been adopted since2000 as pace setting activity in order to create consciousness in the society about the alarming issues of population explosion and development issues confronting the society, nation as well as the world. Various programmes and competitions are being undertaken inviting dignitaries and students from near by schools so as to inspire the common people to realise the current situation in wider extent.

 GUIDANCE AND CAREER COUNSELLING:

            The motto of this programme is to promote awareness among the students in various fields and to acquaint themselves imposing their hobbies, choice and interest in different situations . Last year with the inspiration of Mr. S. Haque our beloved Ex-Deputy Director the campaign" Knowing the child" was introduced so as to evaluate the emotional adjustment of the students in the fast changing environment. Career counselling is also being taken up with a view to guide the students to build up their career in proper channels.

 VIDYALAYA MUSEUM:

            A Museum has been developed since last year with samiti fund and contributions of the students. Various rare articles such as stone made, metal made, wood carving , bamboo work, terracota works, coins, stamps, palm-leaf documents, rock and minerals ornaments and other old house-hold materials have enriched the musuem. The students as well as the parents have also been motivated to contribute rare materials it any so as to develop the museum more attractive and fabulous.

SCIENCE CLUB ACTlVIES:

            In order to inculcate and promote creative thinking in science and technology, the students are being given wide opportunities to participate in different exhibitions and seminars.

This year five students of our vidyalaya participated in the National Science Congress from 20th to 26th November, 2004 being selected by the Regional Office, Bhopal on the basis of their merit. Seven students out of thirty selected from all over Orissa participated in the training programme on Bio-resources from 3rd to 29th May, 2004 conducted by Regional Museum of Natural History, Bhubaneswar.

ECO CLUB:

            Maintanance of ecological balance and conservation of flora and fauna being the prime call of the day , our students have been striving hard to make the Vidyalaya campus green and pollution free.

 PACE SETTING ACTIVITIES:

            Navodaya Vidyalaya, being a pacesetter institution, takes several activities like rally, padayatra. street play and collection of public donation for social awareness and communal harmony. In view of these, Sadvabana Divas was observed on 20.09.04 and Flag Day on 25.11.04 in form of rallies to create awareness among the common people. Computer literacy programme was successfully organised during summar vacation with participation of good numbers of students from the neighbouring schools. Our Music club presented Folk dance "Dalkhai" on the occasion of the closing ceremony of the Bolangir Lok Mahostav on 19.11.04.

 PARTICIPATION IN NATIONAL INTEGRATION CAMP AT DELHI:

            Our 15 numbers students (Dalkhai Dance Troup) attended national integration camp organized by our Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti New Delhi at Mavlankar Auditorium, New Delhi on 20th.November.2005.
